The Client’s Vision: Beyond Just a Fountain

Our client wanted a landscape that felt native to its surroundings—as if it had always belonged there. They had one unique request: a water feature that wasn’t typical. Instead, it had to be special… and personal. As an avid birder, they wanted a feature that served as both a serene focal point and a bird bath.

Framing the Real Challenge

We believe in “building the problem” before solving it—looking deeper than surface wants to identify core needs and values. In this case, the challenge wasn’t simply to “create a fountain,” but to design something that:

• Blended seamlessly with the existing environment

• Respected the homeowner’s identity and love of nature

• Attracted local wildlife

The Design Unfolds

With these deeper goals in mind, we collaborated closely with the client and brought the idea to life:

• A Centerpiece from Nature: We selected a beautiful boulder as the water feature’s focal point.

• Innovative Water System: By drilling through the stone, we created a minimalist, closed-loop system—transforming it into a gentle, bubbling fountain that doubles as a bird bath.

• Seamless Integration: The surrounding landscape echoes the lines and textures of the home’s architecture and encourages intuitive movement from the driveway to the front door—all while maintaining a natural feel Travelers Rest Here+1.
